Toby - Adopted from FOHA in May 2007

My name is Chris Ramey and I am a proud Pit Bull Owner; I am currently an accountant, soccer coach to my 2 daughters and have been happily married for 12 years. Back in 1995 my wife(fiance') decided to get a dog--I wanted a Beagle and went to the animal shelter. One of the wardens told me -- "you don't want a beagle, they bark all the time" and since I lived in a condo, it seemed a valid concern. I asked what other dogs they had available, and they brought out a little bundle of fur--a pit bull. I said "I do not want a Pit Bull as they are mean." The warden told me I read too much in the press. I did some research and adopted" Daisy"--who turned out to be the sweetest dog with such a neat personality. Within a year we decided to get a companion for Daisy and we knew we wanted another Pit, and that is when we adopted Mr. Henry. Every person that came to our house were amazed at our dogs. My wife's parents (65 and 70 years old) even adopted a pit. I can not emphasize enough that they are not evil. They are dogs, they can be trained to be mean, but so can golden retrievers and labs. When I think of an "American Dog" in the dictionary--I picture a Pit Bull. Please don't be dissuaded from adopting a "Pit Bull" just because it is a Pit, as you should not blindly adopt a Lab because it is a Lab. I can not emphasize my pleasure of helping " the most misunderstood dog in America".
Sincerely, Chris J Ramey
